Power Rangers (2025) reimagines the legendary franchise with a darker, more grounded tone, blending high school drama with cosmic stakes. Set in the small coastal city of Angel Grove, the story begins with five seemingly ordinary teenagers whose lives are about to change forever after a mysterious discovery beneath the town’s surface.
Jason, a former football star struggling with his past mistakes, crosses paths with Billy, a brilliant but socially isolated tech prodigy, and Kimberly, a sharp-witted gymnast hiding her own secrets. Alongside them are Trini, a quiet but fiercely independent loner, and Zack, a charismatic risk-taker with a hidden vulnerability. When they uncover ancient alien artifacts buried in a long-forgotten underground chamber, they are unknowingly chosen to inherit the powers of the Power Rangers.

Their transformation is guided by the enigmatic being Zordon, an ancient entity bound to a crumbling command center, and his robotic assistant Alpha 5. Zordon reveals that Earth is under threat from a returning force of destruction: Rita Repulsa, a once-defeated warrior who has awakened with a renewed hunger for power. She seeks a hidden energy source known as the Zeo Core, capable of reshaping entire worlds.
As the Rangers struggle to understand their abilities, they must also confront their personal fears and fractured relationships. Their powers only fully activate when they learn to trust each other, making teamwork not just an advantage, but a necessity. Training sequences push them to their limits as they unlock enhanced strength, agility, and the ability to summon massive battle machines known as Zords.

Rita’s attacks escalate quickly, unleashing monstrous creatures upon Angel Grove and pushing the Rangers into their first real battles. Early defeats shake their confidence, and the team nearly falls apart under pressure. However, through shared loss and determination, they begin to unite, discovering that their greatest strength lies in their bond rather than their individual powers.
The climactic battle sees the Rangers combining their Zords into a towering Megazord, facing Rita in a destructive showdown that threatens to level the city. In a moment of unity, they finally harness the full extent of their powers, turning the tide and sealing Rita away once more—though not permanently.
The film closes with the team standing together at sunrise, no longer just a group of misfits, but heroes bound by destiny. Yet, in a final scene, a shadowy figure discovers remnants of Rita’s power, hinting that new enemies are already rising, and the legacy of the Power Rangers is only just beginning.
