World War Hulk (2025) would be a massive, emotionally charged superhero blockbuster centered on Bruce Banner and his alter ego, the Hulk. Drawing inspiration from the classic Marvel Comics storyline, the film would begin with Banner being betrayed by his fellow heroes — often referred to in the comics as the “Illuminati” — who decide that the Hulk is too dangerous to remain on Earth and exile him into space.
While stranded on an alien world, the Hulk confronts unimaginable challenges. He becomes a gladiator, earns respect, and eventually builds a new life. But when Earth’s defenders are implicated in a catastrophe that destroys everything he’s found — including loved ones he made on that planet — a transformed and enraged Hulk returns to Earth with one goal: revenge. Cities quake under his footsteps as he wages war against the world that rejected him.

Unlike prior Hulk appearances where he was part of a larger ensemble like The Avengers, in World War Hulk he stands alone (at least initially), driven by grief, pride, and fury. The story explores the emotional cost of betrayal, the complexity of heroism, and what happens when a protector becomes a destroyer. Supporting characters — both allies and enemies — would be forced to confront the consequences of their choices.
According to rumors, Marvel Studios may be planning or at least exploring this adaptation, with talks that Mark Ruffalo — who has played Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2012’s The Avengers — could reprise the role. There were also reports that Marvel has discussed potential directors for the project, including acclaimed filmmakers who could bring a dramatic and visually stunning vision to the story.

Still, Marvel has not officially announced a World War Hulk film, no release date, cast list, or production details — and industry insiders note that any such film might tie into larger MCU plans like Avengers: Secret Wars instead of being a standalone Hulk movie.
