In Beauty and the Beast: Heart of the Curse, the story begins several years after Belle and the transformed Prince Adam restored peace to the kingdom. Although the castle has returned to life, a strange shadow has begun to spread across the surrounding forest, draining the land of color and warmth. Belle notices Adam growing distant and troubled, as if haunted by a force he refuses to explain. When a mysterious emblem appears on his chest—glowing faintly like a scar from another world—Belle realizes the enchantment that once bound him is not fully broken. It was only dormant, and now something older and more dangerous is reawakening.
As the kingdom prepares for a grand festival celebrating its rebirth, an enigmatic sorceress named Lysandra arrives, warning Belle that the original spell cast on the Beast was merely the surface of a deeper curse known as the Heartbinding. This ancient magic links a soul to a creature of darkness, feeding on their fears until it consumes them entirely. Belle refuses to believe Adam is in danger again, but when she witnesses him momentarily shift into a monstrous form under the moonlight, her resolve shatters. She realizes the curse is evolving, feeding on his hidden guilt and loneliness.

Determined to save him, Belle embarks on a journey with Lumière, Cogsworth, and a young scholar named Milo, who has secretly studied forbidden lore. Their path leads them into the Forest of Echoes, a place where memories become illusions and truth is difficult to grasp. Belle is tested by visions of her past, including a life where she never met Adam, forcing her to confront her deepest fears. Through these trials she learns that the Heartbinding curse draws its strength from emotional wounds, not from broken spells.
Meanwhile, Adam battles the beast within him, fighting to retain his humanity as Lysandra reveals her true intention: she seeks to claim the Heartbinding for herself, using Adam as its vessel. Belle returns to confront her, discovering that only an act of pure acceptance—not love alone—can break the curse completely. Belle embraces Adam even in his monstrous form, proving that her devotion is not tied to appearances but to the soul she knows.

The curse shatters, Lysandra is consumed by the dark magic she tried to control, and Adam is finally freed. The kingdom awakens once more, stronger than before. Belle and Adam, forever changed, promise to build a future unshaken by fear, knowing that love is strongest when it faces the darkness and chooses to stay.
