Zombieland 3: Dead Empire (2029) picks up several years after the gang’s last chaotic adventure, as Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock continue drifting across the ruins of America. Although they’ve grown more experienced and more tightly bonded, the world around them has grown much harsher. A new breed of evolved zombies—faster, stronger, and disturbingly coordinated—has begun to spread across the continent, earning the ominous nickname “Emperors.” These creatures don’t just attack; they strategize, making survival more uncertain than ever.
The group’s journey begins when they receive word of a massive fortified city built from the remnants of Washington D.C., known as the Dead Empire. Rumors claim it’s run by a brilliant yet ruthless survivalist faction that has learned to control, not kill, the zombie hordes. Intrigued and alarmed, the crew sets out to investigate, hoping to understand how such a dangerous power structure could rise in a world already on the edge of collapse.
As they navigate the wastelands on their way east, old tensions resurface. Columbus’s anxious rule-making clashes with Tallahassee’s unpredictable bravado, while Wichita wrestles with the growing responsibility of protecting her found family. Little Rock, eager to prove herself as more than the “kid” of the group, becomes increasingly reckless. Their interpersonal conflicts create cracks in their unity at the very moment the world demands cooperation.
Upon reaching the Dead Empire, they discover a sprawling citadel protected by advanced traps, armored vehicles, and a militia that treats Tallahassee’s legendary reputation like myth. Inside, they meet the Empire’s cold but charismatic leader, a former military strategist who believes humanity’s only chance is to harness the Emperors as weapons. His plan: expand the Empire’s rule across the continent and establish a new world order.
The crew’s skepticism turns to horror when they realize the Empire has begun experimenting on humans to enhance zombie control. Captured and separated, they must each confront moral dilemmas about survival, sacrifice, and the costs of rebuilding a broken world. Their escape becomes both a rescue mission and a rebellion.
